Lieutenant- General George E.Brink

South Africa, and in particular ex-servicernen, recently mourned the death of one of South Africa’s most distinguished soldiers - Lieutenant-General George E. Brink, GB, CBE, DSO who died at St. Michaels-on-Sea, Natal, on 30th April, 1971. Lt.-Gen. Brink was born at Jagersfontein, Orange Free State, on 27th September, 1889. He was educated at Grey College, Bloemfontein, and shortly thereafter commenced his long and distinguished career in the South African Defence Force from which he retired in 1948.
